Our Purpose

Reflux oesophagitis affects up to 30% of the adult population every month in the UK. It is a debilitating condition associated with symptoms of heartburn and acid regurgitation and has a significant impact on many aspects of daily living, an issue often overlooked. Sufferers will often describe a sense of frustration and isolation as they struggle to cope with the impacts of reflux disease.

FORT's purpose is to be the premier UK support group open to all reflux patients including those with Barrett's Oesophagus.

• We know that reflux is the most common disease amongst adults and yet there are currently no patient friendly and approachable reflux support groups in Europe.

• We will work closely with experienced local and national clinicians to help patients by providing them with the best up-to-date information and education on the treatment of reflux disease, Barrett's and related conditions.

• We will maintain confidentiality and integrity in all our contact work with patients and clinicians, especially with regard to data collection and retention.

• The information provided on the FORT Newsletter and Website is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between a patient and his/her physician.
